This was a landmark film for several reasons. It marked the screen debuts of Bruce Beresford and Barry Humphries as Dame Edna. These would both go onto be great cultural figures for Australia. The story itself is a raucous, bawdy tale of Australians abroad in London. It was filmed completely undercover and on a tiny budget, literally avoiding the police for most of the shooting. An Australian comedy cult classic.
