George Miller directs yet another smash hit ... Happy Feet having danced fast into the #2 spot of all time Box Office for an Aussie film. And a great film it is, managing to elevate itself into that ever-rarer category of digital animation which dares to go beyond formula and take the film 'home' in the third act by pushing the story to create a sense of acheivment at the end which surpasses more lightweight fare that has smeared our screens in 2006 (Open Season, Chicken Little etc). Yes, the animation is superb. And yes, the action is breathtaking (a probably a little too scary for the real youngsters). And yes yes yes! the music is fantastic - a toe-tapping song-fest from start to finish. This multi-genre (Aussie, animated, musical-comedy-adventure?) go-getter deserves everything it gets - which may well include an Oscar for animation.
