If you are familiar with the previous literary, filmic, or even musical resume of screenwriter Nick Cave, you should have some inkling of what to expect from this film. An uncompromisingly brutal depiction of colonial life on the Australian frontier and outback. Follows a story of family (brothers) and betrayal that is delivered as much by the landscape as by the human monsters populating it. Frequently violent, equally beautiful. Not for all tastes, but worthy for those with strong constitutions.
