A realistic tale of 1970's surf culture in Australia. Based on the book of the same name by Kathy Lette & Gabrielle Carey, it's the story of two teenage girls growing up near the beachside suburb of Cronulla. Notable for being told from the girl's perspective in such a strongly male environment. Already enshrined as an Australian classic - possibly more as a slice of life than as pure cinema - some brilliant observations nevertheless give the film resonance even today.
